After you finish your movement, taking a few moments to share your experience with a partner or write your experience will help you put your internal wisdom that emerged into words.

3)Drawing: You don’t need any formal training in art whatsoever to connect to your interior wisdom through drawing. Come to the blank paper without any preconceived notions or judgement or ideas, and draw what comes to mind. Draw how you feel. Or, ask you interior wisdom a question, and then draw it out. For example, asking a question as simple as “What do I need to know right now?” can yield rich imagery that might hold some interesting answers for you.

4) Visualization: Visualization can be as simple as closing your eyes, and calling forth your wise self. See her and and ask her questions. You’ll be shocked at what can come to light!

5) Breathing: Taking just a few minutes to sit still, close your eyes and concentrate on your breathe, can really help you to slow down, get settled, and begin to really connect with your body, to sense and feel into yourself. My suggestion is to very consciously concentrate on each part of your body, sending breathe to each part, and ask yourself how you feel. Observe where you feel open and where you feel closed. Connecting to your body in this way is a wonderful opportunity to get present. For ideas are the thinks all other things come from ans with out the thought before the action nothing is all you get.

Tools for the Dyslexic: Learning to Navigate Through a Non-Dyslexic World When You View the World Completely Differently

I am hoping you will find my story to be helpful for you. When I got into high school math, I had trouble writing numbers in a format where I would remember which number was in which line making it increasingly difficult for me to find the correct answer to the problem. It affects the way we communicate with others, the way we look at questions, following instructions and the way we think about things. Instead, like so many school aged children suffering from dyslexia, I was pinpointed as a “trouble maker” despite the fact that I was never sent to the Principal’s office, or caused classroom disruptions. In fourth grade our teacher would write notes for us to copy from the board and I would write them in my notebook completely incorrectly. I switched majors to a subject that allowed me to think in the way that I did. As though adulthood is not difficult enough, dyslexia adds a dimension of complexity to the lives of those who suffer with it. P.

Public Speaking

Let this be a lesson to you. When you are speaking with another person, do you tend to jumble pronouns when writing letters, papers, e-mails or when you’re speaking with someone? For example, instead of you saying, “John went to the store to buy Jane a dog,” you say, “Jane when to the store to buy John a dog. If you are just realizing this is a problem, there are a few tools I can give you to help you combat this embarrassing issue.

Verb Agreements

When speaking with someone else, you should find that slowing down when you speak and correcting what you say will help you form correct sentences. This can be quite embarrassing in front of an employer or someone you are trying to impress with your knowledge or excellent vocabulary skills. While dyslexics can flip flop pronouns easily, they also can have a tendency to use different verb tenses in a sentence.

Writing

If you find that you tend to verbally switch verbs or pronouns, I suggest putting everything in writing and asking for people to e-mail you instead. I hope you will find e-mail easier for you when communicating with others. This will help you communicate with the world immensely.

Taking Standardized Tests

Standardized tests can be very difficult for dyslexics to take. Ask the instructor or writer of the exam what the correct answer is. The following will be an example of how to do this. Standardized test exams can be not only challenging, but increasingly frustrating and difficult. Look at each of the questions. As discussed previously, analyze where you go wrong in an exam. e. This is important because you are identifying what is important in this question. This way, you will find any mistakes you have made immediately, and will not cost you time when taking the exam. If you can see the instructor prior to taking the exam, (about a week before), ask to see some sample questions.

Also, looking at a map before you venture out will also prove to be useful and even more helpful is a GPS unit to read directions to you as you drive. But it doesn’t have to be Before you speak with someone, think about everything you are about to say in your head, put everything in writing so you can double check it. I have conquered much of my problems with school, and my problems in the work place as I understood the dyslexic things I do and came up with ways to combat it. Make sure you have a clear idea of where you are going before you venture out in your vehicle. The bottom line for combating dyslexia simply is getting into the hang of rereading, proofreading, double and triple checking everything you say or do. Come up with a game plan when dealing with standardized testing and always reread the instructions so you know what is being asked for you. What I wasn’t realizing at the time was that I was jumbling the instructions in my mind.

• They have succumbed to peer pressure. – The people around them are more motivating than you are. They have not found the support they need to resist against the peers whose esteem they value.

• They lack vision. – They have sacrificed long-term success for short-term pleasure.

• They lack knowledge. – They don’t know how to make the necessary changes in their lives or they are not doing so correctly.

• They lack confidence. – Confidence comes only after action, knowledge and success have been achieved.
